Thea Costantino, artist
Thea was born in Kalgoorlie, WA in 1980. She holds a BA Fine Arts (with Honours) and a BA Literary Studies from Curtin University. Thea is currently completing her PhD at Curtin University, investigating the grotesque as a mode for the representation of history in visual art, literature and film. An artist, writer and emerging curator, Thea’s interdisciplinary background reflects her approach to creative practice. Her visual arts practice encompasses sculpture, installation, animation, performance and drawing.
In 2002 Thea wrote and directed Psychoarchitectural Pleasure Tours, a series of vignettes that took place throughout four rooms in Hotel6151. She has recently written a work for theatre, Heart of Gold, in collaboration with Tarryn Gill & Pilar Mata Dupont which is scheduled for production in 2009. Thea’s critical writing has been published in art journals including Artlink, Photofile and RealTime + On Screen.
