Bevan Honey, artist

Born in Perth in 1968, Bevan lives and works in Fremantle and has exhibited nationally including solo shows at The Monash Faculty Gallery (VIC), Galerie Düsseldorf (WA), Canberra Contemporary Arts Space (ACT), Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery (WA), and the inaugural exhibition at the new Tinsheds Gallery (NSW). Amongst other projects in 2009, Bevan will be presenting a solo exhibition at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts. A significant element to his practice is art in public places and most recently Bevan presented a large-scale commission for the Bon Scott Project at the Fremantle Arts Centre. In late 2005 he also executed an ephemeral installation of two 1000m2 drawings on the lawns of Parliament House Canberra for the Canberra Biennial of Art And Architecture. Bevan has been involved in a significant number of group exhibitions such as the inaugural mix tape at the Art Gallery of Western Australia in 2003, and has won awards and commissions throughout Australia. Recently, he has been working on a body of work as the recipient the Mark Howlett Foundation Commission. Bevan holds a BA and Post Graduate Diploma from Curtin University, and has works in various private, state and institutional collections, including the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of Western Australia, Art Gallery of South Australia, Artbank, Curtin University, Edith Cowan University and the University of Western Australia. Bevan is represented by Galerie Düsseldorf, Perth.
