Matthew Hunt, artist
Matthew has held a number of solo exhibitions, including Falling From Earth, Dianne Tanzer Gallery, Melbourne (2008); End of the Earth, Conical, Melbourne (2007); Cause I see a light surrounding you so don’t be afraid, Turner Galleries, Perth (2007); Backwater, Holmes à Court Gallery, East Perth (2006); Scattered Order, Kaskadenkondensator, Basel, Switzerland (2004); Perch, Imperial Slacks Gallery, Sydney (2001); Civil Savages, West Space, Melbourne (2001); and CORE, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (2000). He has also contributed to a number of group exhibitions including, Show me your world, Gitte Weise Gallery, Berlin (2008); The Bon Scott Project, Fremantle Arts Centre; Old Skool: never lose that feeling, PICA (2007); PEEP, TarraWarra Museum of Art, Melbourne and the Art Gallery of Western Australia (2007-08); In every dream home a heartache, Sydney College of the Arts Galleries, Sydney (2007); We know who we are: Octopus 6, Gertrude St Contemporary Space, Melbourne (2006); Mix tape, Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth (2005); and FLUX, uncertain states: new art from Western Australia, Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery, the University of Western Australia, Perth (2003). Matthew has participated in number of artist-in-residency programs, including Artsource’s Basel residency in Switzerland (2004) and Sydney (1999), and the International Art Space Kellerberrin (2001). A monograph of his work was published in 2006 to accompany his Backwater exhibition at the Holmes à Court Gallery. Hunt collaborates with Robert Cook to produce the fanzine Acquittal Report. Matthew Hunt exhibits with Dianne Tanzer Gallery in Melbourne and Turner Galleries in Perth.
