Laura Johnson, artist

Laura is a Perth-based multimedia artist. Using photography, performance, video and installation, she creates site-specific works that reflect her contemporary environment. Laura graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Curtin University of Technology, Perth in 2004. Since then, she has exhibited in numerous group shows at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, The Moore's Building in Fremantle, Perth Galleries and the Breadbox Gallery in Perth. Laura spent the earlier part of 2008 working and living in Omaha, Nebraska, USA where she was involved in a three-month residency program at the Bemis Centre for Contemporary Arts. Laura also spent six months in Brooklyn, New York where she worked as an assistant to an established New York- based artist. After spending the last ten months abroad, she has recently returned to Perth and continues to develop her practice.
