Tom Müller, artist
Tom was born in Basel, Switzerland in 1975 and currently lives in Perth where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Curtin University of Technology in 2000. Tom has exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas, including the Adelaide Biennale of Australian Art, Art Gallery of South Australia (2008); Capital, Sherman Gallery art box, Sydney (2006); and Primavera, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney (2005). Drawn to investigate processes and protocols that have been universally adopted, Tom has issued passports on-line, posed as the concierge of a hotel and opened Supermart (2004), a supermarket for limited edition works. His digital prints and paintings have captured patterns created through the ordering of rivers and airport runways in recognition of how these markers define territory. In 2008 Tom was the recipient of the QANTAS Contemporary Encouragement Art Award and Artsource’s Perth/Basel artist-in-residency exchange. Tom is represented by Galerie Düsseldorf, Perth.
